About Us

A Bhaktapur kitchen that grew into a factory, without changing its recipe.

Kulfi Sansar began as a small family operation moulding kulfi by hand for the evening crowds near Bhaktapur Durbar Square. What sold out of a handcart then is now made in our own factory with same milk, same moulds, same patience, just more of it.

Our Story

Bhaktapur has always been a city of makers potters, wood carvers, weavers and our family found its own material to work with: milk. Kulfi here has never been a novelty; it is a fixture of the evening, sold beside the temples and squares that give this city its shape.

For years, that meant a small kitchen, a handful of moulds, and a cart that made its way through the old town each evening. As demand grew beyond what one kitchen could keep up with, we built a proper factory on the edge of the city built to hold the temperature, the timing, and the recipe steady, batch after batch.

We still don't rush the reduction, we still mould by hand, and we still taste-test every batch before it goes out the door. That part hasn't scaled, and we don't plan on letting it.

The Factory

Our production facility handles everything from milk reduction to cold storage under one roof, so nothing sits between a finished batch and the freezer. It lets us supply local shops daily and keep a distributor's order moving without a delay in the chain.

Capacity has grown well past what the original kitchen could produce, which is what makes wholesale and distribution partnerships possible today without asking any shop to wait weeks for stock.

What we hold onto

Three things we won't change as we grow.

Full-cream milk, reduced slow

No milk powder shortcuts. Our base is simmered down for hours before it ever sees a mould, the same way it was done in the original kitchen.

Moulded, not machine-extruded

Every kulfi still sets in a traditional cone mould. It is slower than an extrusion line, and that is exactly why the texture holds.

Frozen for Bhaktapur heat

Our recipe is tuned to melt at the pace of a Bhaktapur evening slow enough to enjoy walking through Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
